If the Confederacy had somehow defeated the Union ( impossible because of the sheer numbers), they would have continued their slave-holding & created their own government. The S. states would not have governed the N. states, that's not what they wanted anyway. In time, the two Am. 'countries' would have allied again in some fashion. But in a civil war, an agricultural south has never prevailed against an industrial north, historically.
