Should I pre-order Gears 2 or wait until Xmas?

Ok so I'm having a little problem right now. I want Gears 2 so bad but I really dislike spending my own money for a videogame. I have the money right here but im running a little short on cash. So my question is, should I wait until xmas and get Gears 2 for free or just pre order it and be happy playing with my friends and month and a half earlier.
