Whip worms!!?

For those of you that read my question about Papillon not doing well. I did get her to the vet. She was diagnosed with whip worms!!! We do not own any other animals. I do not know where she could have contacted anything to get this.. We live in the country so I don't take her to a park for recreation. She has never been boarded, she has always been with us!!!! I am wondering if whip worms can come from wild animals as well. I forgot to ask the vet at the visit. Missy by the way, is doing so much better after medication. I did ask the vet about the fall that she sustained and she said that they, (dogs) can take a substantial blow to the head without any complications most times. This was why I was so confused about her problems.. Nothing after the fall, but weeks later she had what looked like neurological problems. Just so happy that she is on the mend!!!
