What is the prognosis for someone who was found to have abnormalities (white spots) on their cervix?

18 years ago. Someone who has not had a smear since then through sheer fear of what she'd be told. Is there any kind of support group to contact as she's going through this alone and is absolutly terrified. She's going for a colcoscopy next week and a biopsy but the waiting is agonising
